Integrating trauma and moral injury with fearless advocacy
Here is a podcast I did with former Reuters colleague Daniel Simpson, who left journalism to seriously delve into yoga. At the start, he asked if anything was off limits. Nothing, I said, expecting the usual questions I get around the deaths of my staff in Baghdad, being in a psych ward. Halfway through, he asked me about my serial infidelity. It's a topic everyone else who has interviewed me in the media or on podcasts has steered clear of. (And Daniel is British... ) I definitely felt a bit uncomfortable but I'm glad Daniel asked because it needs to be discussed. I deeply betrayed my life partner Mary, it's a major part of my memoir, and the healing journey Mary and I have been on.
